Ever since the forced upgrade to AOLIM 7, I’ve so DEARLY missed the ability to have a proper AOLIM profile.
Well, no more. It’s back to GAIM for me.
Unfortunately it would appear that I can’t extract my 524 saved Away Messages from the registry where AOLIM saved them, and it would appear further that copying the HTML into the Away Message textbox doesn’t apply the markup therein like AOLIM would do, nor does copying the rendered version from a browser keep the formatting.
But it’s not like I could use most of those Away Messages in AOLIM 7 anyway, since they took away the ability to use one directly from the Manage Saved Away Messages screen (now the only good way to find one quickly) and the new structure for selecting a Saved Away Message straight from the main screen no longer does the menu hierarchy thing (instead keeping it all to one menu that does not let you scroll nearly fast enough).
Geez, why did AOL have to change everything so badly going from version 5 to version 7 of their client? The ability to have status messages even when not Away is so not worth the *lost* functionality.
